On this week’s episode, Dan talks with Nebraska Cicerone Matt Stinchfield about Ploughshare’s Belgian-Styled Orville craft beer and with Jane Raybould of the Lincoln City Council about the new recycling program. Learn both about the origin of the Orville beer as well as the beer making process. Plus, Jane describes the collaborative process of passing a new recycling plan through the City Council to help double Lincoln recycling by 2020.
Orville – Orville begins as a simple amber ale fermented with an abbey ale yeast, undergoes a second fermentation with Brettanomyces yeast (aka “Brett”), and is dry-hopped with Czech hops. It is a dry, tart, complex brew: woodsy, peachy, marshmallows, tea-like tannins, delicately sour with high carbonation.
