This month, I am sitting down with Dave Haring, Executive Director of the Lincoln Airport Authority, and Rachel Barth, Director of Communications and Customer Engagement. We take a closer look at a ballot measure for commercial airports across the state. If passed, Constitutional Amendment 1 would give local governments control of how airport funding is used, leading to more airline options and increased customer satisfaction. 51 – Nebraska Development with Richard Meginnis and David Levy

What Are We Drinking?

Double barrel Bourbon Whisky from Brickway Brewery and Distillery in Omaha, the city’s first distillery since prohibition. Old Fashioned.

Old Fashioned recipe:
2 oz. Rye or Bourbon
½ oz proof Old Fashioned syrup
¼ orange
2 woodford reserve Bourbon cherries

  • Muddle ¼ orange and 1 bourbon cherry
  • Remove orange rind and cherry from shaker
  • Add ½ oz Proof Syrup and 2 oz Rye or Bourbon. Shake well.
  • Pour over ice. Garnish with one bourbon cherry and orange twist.

We may not notice it daily, but our city and our state are constantly changing – and these changes often directly impact us as residents. This week, I am sitting down with real estate expert Richard Meginnis and legal professional David Levy for an in-depth discussion about the development of Lincoln. We get into the art of risk-taking, the challenges, the opportunities, what it takes to work as a visionary and so much more.

50 – Warhorse gaming update: Lance Morgan and Lynne McNally

After years of opposing the expansion of gambling, in 2020 Nebraska voters overwhelmingly approved gambling at licensed racetracks with licensed gaming operators. At the time of the election, Nebraska outlawed gambling, except for the state lottery, licensed raffles, and bingo. This episode features an update on Warhorse Casinos from Lance Morgan and Lynne McNally, including the announcement of the ground-breaking of Warhorse Casinos in Lincoln and Omaha! The Lincoln casino is expected to open in September of this year and feature a 9,000-square-foot gaming floor as well as 445 slot machines, live racing, and more. Thanks to these leaders, Nebraskans will soon have the opportunity to watch racing, gamble and enjoy casinos right at home.
